I know they are potentially lethal to dopers, etc.  But what I'm not sure of is whether or not they can be lethal to those with pre-existing heart conditions.

Personally, I'd rather see the police start thumping people with asp batons instead of tasering.

Broken bones and bruises heal and pain is quite convincing for compliance.

thats pretty much my feeling as well. my personal feeling is that they will induce arythmias<sp> in some individuals that may be exagerated by other circumstances<stress,drugs>. the biggest thing i see posted from LE is that they reduce officer injuries more than protect the perp. equals reduced lawsuits/wormans comp/ overtime etc. Personall i put them just below deadly force for most instances.

I voted "potentially lethal," but the fact is that they are a solution in search of a problem, and are subject to gross abuse.
