I noticed this strange looking snake in my yard today, and I've never seen one like it in South Florida before. Didn't want to get too close to it as it seemed a little aggitated! We have quite a few duckings running around today and I think it might have been attracted to them. Any ideas what it is and if I should kill it?

Gartner snake, nothing to worry. It's real fun to catch them by sneaking up behind it and than yelling, BOO! or smacking it in the back of the head and running.

This reminds me when I was little and we went to lake mead..

Well I use to like animals, and while walking around this lake I find this very cool snake and grabbed it. And being an asshole kid and not having a big love for snakes I start swinging it around real quick as fast  as I could and my mother comes running screaming at my as if shes going to have a freaking heart attack so I throw it into the lake. I was like 6 by the way.

It looked liked this fellow.

ETA: Kid's do the cutest things.

Just a little bit . It's actually a real stuffed Cobra I got when I lived in Malaysia. Thought I would stick it outside a take a pic since there have been a few snake threads lately. Was curious what kind of responses I would get from the group....I have to say I was not disappointed .

ETA: If I ever have a real bad snake remind me to get a second opinion, bastages handing me up telling me to go sneak up on it and grab it!

The snake is harmless.

Just walk up to it and grab it.  Its too small to wrestle.

If it bites ya, just down a can and walk it off
