My Mom passed away last month. One of the insurance policies She had was through AARP/New York Life for 10,000.00.
She got this policy about 11 or 12 years ago. Yesterday I get a check in the mail for 2,900 dollars.  It says on the paperwork that the "contract amount" is for 2900.00.
So, I read, and read, and read again the policy and it states that the Beneficiary will receive 10,000 dollars after Her death...
Of course the AARP/New York Life place is closed till Tuesday, so I can't find out what is going on.  Any Insurance experts out there that could tell me what is happening?

Can't comment on your specific situation... but AARP is nothing but a fantastic marketing scheme!

See, everyone gets a free membership when they hit 55!  Then they pimp you for this and for that...  peeling off a buck here and there...

I wish the NRA would do something like this...

4 million paid members?  Think... 40 million members!  Think if they had the political power of an AARP...

Ok, I'll step away from the bong now

If all else fails you can file a complaint with your states Dept of Insurance. I have done this twice and received decent outcomes

How do you get that free membership?  I got charged $25. for a two year membership.  Of course I got that back on motel room rates on my last cross country ride.  (Truth be known, not one of the young desk clerks ask me for proof of age when I ask for the senior discount .  Maybe the completely gray hair is a better ID than my AARP card.)

Don't be selfish, pass that bong this way, oh yeah.
