There is a Photo Server button near the IM button.
Log into the photo server and click on the avatar/sigpic link.

Go to:
1)Photo server ( 4 down from tools button)
2)log in
3)Avatar/SigPic
4)Upload a file (browse button), must be under 12k.
I also had trouble. I admit, there isn't any good instructions on how to do it if your new.
