I noticed these bastards yesterday all around the concrete by my pool. They are small and look exactly like a spider, and they are all red. Thay can also move along quite well. I searched the internet and all I keep coming up with are red spider mites, chiggers and other various mites, but the problem is none of the pictures of those bugs looks even remotely like what I have in my backyard. Thousands of little tiny red spider things.

Can anyone help with an ID?

I think they are young baby spiders.

(seriously)

Just plaster the area with DDT and don't worry about it.

That seems to be the only place I see them...around the cement by the pool. They are small and very red, but look nothing like the picture of mites, they look exactly like a spider. They are small enough that if you're standing you don't really see them but if you crouch down...they are easy to see.

I'm still thinking chiggers.  You can get a nasty rash from them.
