Today the kid wanted to go tanning. OK quick trip there and back, no problem. I had been out working in the shed, garage and yard all day and had left my gun in the house. I forgot to grab it before we left. So she tans and as I am getting ready to leave, I remember I need some Pepsi. So off to the grocery I go. I don't feel like running in so I give her my card and tell her what to get. As I am sitting in the parking lot waiting on her, some guy comes up to the Tahoe and starts begging for money.  I reach down to my side before I answer, to find it bare.
So now I am worried about telling this guy no, but I do anyway. He gets all bent out of shape, tells me folks in Indiana suck, you can't get any help here at all. All I needed was a few bucks to help get my van fixed so I could get back to Oklahoma and on and on. I calmly told him to get away now or I would be forced to do something I didn't want to do. (never mentioned having a gun, but i had my hand on my side like I did, just wanted to bluff him) he huffed and and walked off and approached the next guy that pulled up in a car.
Thankfully this was the day nothing bad happened. Tomorrow I won't leave the house without it.  Lesson learned, somewhat the hard way.

It is hot down here so I usually carry a Kel Tec in the shorts pocket. My folks are 85 now. My Dad was infantry in WW II and does not like guns. I took my Mom shopping and did not carry for that reason. While loading stuff in the back of the truck was approached by a couple of punks. That is it. I am carrying from now on. Also usually have a SIG 226 in 357 sig under the front seat.
