Looks like the pump that sends the water from the a/c unit to the outside is going to die. How much does it cost to replace one?

If it is a little giant or hartell pump it should be in the $40-$60 range. If you lived close by I could get you one wholesale cost, but since you live in bama--land...

Depends. If you do it yourself the pump is $30ish depends on size .Take the old one with you to a HVAC/R supply house. They may or may not sell to you.You can also get them at Graingers they sell to the public.

Water?  Are you talking about a swamp cooler?

The A/C unit has a pump that pumps water from the unit to the outside.

It keeps overflowing. You can run your finger down in it and it trips the switch to start the pump.

A condensate pump - commonly used where access to a drain or utility sink is not possible.  Has a small reservoir, a float and a pump.  Kinda like a mini sump pump.

Swamp cooler in bamma? Wouldnt work so well in all that humidity.

In high humidity places the A/C sweats so much it requires a drip pan and it has to be pumped out every so often.

I see.  I was pretty confused imagining a swamp cooler in AL.  We always let gravity drain the condensate pan.  I guess they build the houses uphill in AL.

30 to 50 bucks, any furnace or A/C place worth its salt will carry them. Heck, one of the big "boxes" might also. In the meantime use a 5 gallon bucket with a few drops of bleach and check and empty it every day. As you know it'll make a lot of water.

Celing in my bedroom fell in after water soaked through from an attic A/C unit where the drain line for condensation was clogged.

Kinda sucks.  Big Time.

I had the whole system replaced with at the time a state of the art Trane system in 2003. I have and extended warranty until 2012. Do you think it would be covered?

I've also put bleach in the tub a couple of times. And it still is overflowing.

Not by Trane at least (never seen one with their logo - they're all aftermarket) - maybe by the installer.  Worth calling them if nothing else.

You ARE talking about the condensate pump correct? Little pump outside the fnc A/c unit with a line that dumps outside right? If it is sticking [float]do not mess with it, just buy a new one. It is NOT a covered part as it is outside the unit. You can call your installer and complain, you never know, they might "goodwill" you one. Never saw one work correctly FOR LONG once they started acting up. Also make sure all the lines are clear and not full of "slime" .

Nope. It does not say Trane on it. It has a white upper and blue lower tub.

Little giant VCMA pump about 75 bucks or so. Actually a pretty decent unit.

I'd suggesttaht yopu go to thetool rental shop and rent a rotary hammer, and drill a 1-1/4" hole in thefloor. Extend the 3/4" plastic drain line to the hole in the floor.  This is a French drain, and gravity never wears out or breaks.
