I got an offer to go play OPFOR for 2 weeks training a foreign country's army in MOUT tactics. But alas, I am disappointed because the dates collide with a preplanned, prepaid vacation! My daughter would kill me.

NO AMMO FOR YOU! !!!

Maybe I'll get lucky and another good mission will pop up in July. I need a break from my corporate humdrum IT job.

Please, delete "America's Army" from your computer as fast as is possible and then disconnect your

computer's power source.

Just kidding.

I always wondered who did OPFOR. I remember a friend telling me when he was w/ the 82nd Airborne that he was OPFOR for the direct action missions carried out during Army SF school, I think Robin Sage.

HAHAH! I actually tried playing that game till I said to myself, to have that much fun in the real Army, you've gotta wait around till youre ready to die. Hurry up and wait no less! I get enough of that during duty "weekends" (read 3-4 days), ATs, SRPs, etc....

OPFOR isnt some big secret - its special training units - mostly infantry and such who don their MILES gear and act like Guerrillas.....thats all they do. And they normally kick everyones ass since the Army doesnt normally know HOW to adapt to new situations.

They usually do pretty goopd seeing as they know EXACTLY what you are going to do. The opfor unit in Hoehenfels Germany was pretty good. Then again a light infantry Airborne Bat against Armor is never a fair fight anyway.

I'm planning on taking a week or so off later this month, going down to NTC, grabbing a rifle and some MILES and having fun. What does that say about me if that's my idea of a vacation?

Well, if you want to hook me up... But it'd have to be one unbelievably cute chick to keep me away from that Opfor holiday.

That next rotation starts on Wednesday.  You can borrow my rifle and MILES, you can use my COB gear, you can drive the Mad Max Blazer.

I'll take that vacation.

If you really want to play OPFOR come back for the HICs vs. 4th ID coming up this summer.  The DATs are in a tizzy, they need armor help.

You're with the 221st? Which troop?

I'm looking at coming down on the free-play stage of the next rotation after the STXs are finished. (Not least I left my boots down there when I visited last week and need to pick them up again).

Considering the 4th ID rotation, but I don't think I can really take a tank or a platoon for just a week in that situation.
