| So I'm bidding on some BDU blouses on Ebay, and the seller has a long history and good feedback--he's ebayed a LOT of mil-surp. One of the other bidders for the same item also has a long and positive history--of apparently hundreds of purchases from this same guy. I only ask because I don't want this guy to bid my stuff up, but do any red flags go up in your minds when you see this? I mean, the guy I am competing with has bid almost exclsuively on this sellers items...what gives? |
| It's really hard to find amazing deals on eBay anymore. You can still get decent prices but the really good days are over. If you want the item you need to bid what you are willing to pay for it and then leave it there. The best way to do this is with the auction sniping software that puts your max bid in at the last second. I've never used it but I've lost many auctions where someone who had never bid before placed a bid just seconds before the auction closed. If you are trying to slowly bump up your max bid you will most likely lose the auction to a sniper. |

Slightly off topic but somewhat relevant: I find it funny and a bit odd when I bid on an item which the seller has 20 of the same thing up for auction. For example, the seller has 20 mag pouches in 20 separate auctions. I'm the only bidder on any of the auctions and I get outbid on the only auction that HAS a bid. I just go to the next one down and place my bid on the exact same thing. It's either extremely stupid bidders or blatant shilling. |
| His buddy/himself under different user name is bidding up the price so you have to pay more almost w/o question. Big sellers on eBay nowadays are the people who have factories that make counterfeit goods (Louis Vuitton fakes etc). Small sellers with positive feedback that accept papal are best- that way you can get your money back fairly easily. I read an article the other day – I think in the NY Times – about how terrorists may profit from the sale of counterfeited purses and such. I never understood how someone wouldn’t be embarrassed beyond all belief to have something fake… |
That wouldn’t bother me so long as the seller’s feedback includes lots of other happy buyers over an extended period of time. Plus, quite frankly, it’s not like you’re buying a plasma TV! Personally, I’ve gotten to the point where if something is still in production, I’ll just buy it from a legit dealer. |
