I have been talking to some people lately about going to one of the training places like thunder ranch, but not necessarily there. I was wondering if any of you guys have attended, were you went what your overall thoughts and experience are, and was it worth the time and costs, thanks guys.

Can't tell you which instructor to take; just giving you some choices. I have been to Blackwater for a rifle course, all my other rifle training has been either LE or military-related.

how much does this training benefit the average shooter, basic personal protection seems pretty simple, practice engaging targets at 3-7 yards, FTS drills, draws and retention should cover it?

Your right, everyone bad habits and all are all set. Don’t worry about getting any better or learning something new. Or the right way to do it in the first place. In fact, I think we should out law middle and high school, which needs it.

I went to the Strategic Weapons Academy of Texas in 2003 and was very impressed. While the course I went to focused on training for Personal Protection Officers, they have a variety of courses. I found their instrucors to be top notch, prices reasonable, and I learned alot.
