Well, I counter protested the XXXXXXX Peace and Democracy Coalition today. They had about 20 protestors. I had.......one - myself. I made up some signs. While they mobilized in a parking lot, I pulled out my first picket sign "Liberals = Tyranny" They thought that was funny and began to jeer and make fun. A photographer came up along with a few others. They began to pepper me with snide remarks and question and we got into it regarding the "nuclear option". The photographer was full of pointed questions. One of the organizers was a woman, and a local teacher.  She said "That liberals = tyranny thing is really funny, I am going to have some T-shirts made!"The photog was from our local paper. We had a nice discussion. I asked him if he was there to simply gather news in a fair and impartial manner, he stated he was just there as a nuetral party to shoot pics.  I gave him a flyer that I had done documenting the "peace movement" and it's links to socialist organizations.I went back to my truck to get another picket sign "The only things war have ever solved - tyranny, genocide, facism, communism, etc." and by the time they came around the block, my flyer was in the hands of the group organizer who immediately began to berate me, saying "we're not communists, but nice try" and "my dad served to defend us against communism". Yeah, fair and impartial. They wrapped up the protest march in a circle around me and carrying on a big argument. One by one they left with snide comments, a couple stayed behind and I actually had a good discussion with another organizer who is actually a Libertarian before wrapping it up for the day. |
