[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How do i format my computer?

Just so you don't ask, I'm using my room mates computer.

Last year, I formatted my desktop computer and reinstalled everything. It worked out very well, but I swear I can't remember how to do it. It has come to that again, the comp. is completely F'ed. So,....how do I do it?

If it is a XP/2000 machine just boot from the installation CD, it will ask you if you want to wipe out the old installation, reinstall.

Can also use a boot disk...

type in format c: at the command prompt and there you go, wiped out hdd

Ok, well thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure that the computer is FUBAR. I'm gonna just rip out the HD and take it to a local computer guy to get him to format it.

Or Tannerite and $1,500.
