I just picked up an M48 and have cleaned up all the cosmo off, however I am having trouble re-attatching the Extractor to the bolt, any tips or special ways to do it? thanks |

You need to compress the extractor collar. I have used monofilament in the past. Tie a loop on mono line around the two projections of the collar tightly. When you begin to slide the extractor back onto the collar, position the extractor so that you will have to rotate it to get it into the guide groove on the bolt body. This is likely as clear as mud. Good luck. |

www.surplusrifle.com/shooting/mauserboltdisassembly/index.asp Unless you are refinishing bolt or replacing damaged parts there is no reason to remove extractor. Brownells sells a shaped pair of pliers for squeezing the collar but usually all that's needed is to grab aholt of it and squeeze it in a rapid and aggressive manner... |
