I know that this has been asked before but i can't find the thread. Im doing a paper on why Americans should be able to keep their firearms and not have to worry about libs trying to take them away. if anyone has any links to sites that have any kind of numbers on crimes with firearms or anything please post them. Anything will help. Thanks alot.

Your paper should be pretty short.

"A well regulated militia, being neccesary to the security of the free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

That's your paper, right there.

On a more serious note, try www.a-human-right.com
John Lott's book "More guns, less crime"

Oh yea, and google is your friend.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to explain America's tradition of a citizen militia...

oh wait... the feds took care of that already.

Indeed,...  It's odd how the gun-grabbers can say that firearm ownership as defined in the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights is a collective right that only applies to orgranizations like the National Guard when all the other nine Amendments of the Bill of Rights are designed to protect individual rights.

Also whenever the phrase "the people" is used in the Constitution, it means the citizens of the US not just those emplyed by the Government.

But I guess none of them ever read the Federalist Papers....

Here's a good resource document on various pro-gun facts, statistics, arguements. It's in PDF file format, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it:

When the second amendment was written, there was no NG.  The militia was made up of unviersal male citizens on the state level with varying degrees of defferment for different occupations.

Only in the 20th century with the Dick Act and the 1916? expansion of that has the NG been so closely associated with the Federal Gov't.

But even without the second amendment, the 10th amendment guarantees all the rights that americans assumed to have.  IOW the federal government doesn't have the power to take rights away.  Individual weapons onwership is one of those rights.
