Brand new and I got it cheap. I was seeing the boys at work (Cabelas) and the story behind the special buy is a south american police force bought a bunch but wanted manual safeties installed.
Not a normal feature judging by the additional safety instructions included.
The buy went bust due to lack of funds and they got put on the market.
Not bad for $400 bucks.
Hopefully it's a good shooter

So its double action and has a safety?

Why is the slide not full into battery?

Guess SIG went to the manual safety route on this one.  When the Germans ran their pistol trials way back, one of the specs was no manual safety

Sig made a run of SigPros with safeties to satisfy a police contract or two. The left-overs go pretty cheap, as far as Sig prices go.

Eeeks, I would have gotten a P229.  I've sent too many of the Sig-Pro's back to the factory for work over the years.  Especially when they first came out.

One I recall the frame would swell so much on a loaded mag that the slide would fail to strip the first round of the mag unless it was loaded down to 7 rnds.

Admittedly, it has been a while since I had to send one back but still.....

All things considered the Pro's aren't that much lighter than the P229 or P228 and the frames are actually wider.

I hope you have good luck with it.

Cheers,

SIGPros are excellent guns---I have a 2009 and it's probably the best buy in a handgun I've ever had.  Very accurate and 100% reliable.  Congratulations on your purchase--I know you're going to love it.  Best place to go for mags is CDNN.  I got some for $30 from them new in the wrapper.

Yeah, that's another thing that has been anoying me about Sig Sauer lately.  They are still shipping new guns with Lowered-Capacity Mags.  Asside from the P226 standard capacity mags which are relatively abundant Sig's standard capacity mags have alway been (B4 AWB Expired) very expensive and even now their lowered capacity mags are toomuch.99.

H&K is the same way but atleast they are shipping standard capacity mags with their new guns.

To you, maybe. My new 229R/9mm came with standard capacity mags. My neighbors 226 came with standard capacity mags. Sig is NOT still shipping 10rd to the general population.

Besides, just buy Mec-Gars. They make Sig mags anyways, and if you don't mind not having the Sig logo, you get the same mag, cheaper.

I bought a 229 last weekend and it came with hi-caps.  They appear to  be shipping the full capacity mags at this point in time.  Actually I priced that gun all over the place and everybody was selling it with the hi caps.

Very nice. My second handgun purchase was a Sig P226 and I love it. Just bought a P245 the other day and get to pick it up tomorrow. Enjoy it!

congrats on your sig.  i have a p226 9mm and p232, and i couldn't be happier with them.  the only company that's been able to compete in my collection with hk.  wonderful pistols, incredibly accurate.  may it give you a lifetime of enlightenment and pave the way for more sigs!

i've looked at some sig pros, and they are pretty nice.  i think the dealer i go to has them around $400-450, something like that.  i was surprised with the ergonomics, very close to the p-series with the polymer frame.
