Just some info on some new gear I thought I would post here figuring more people might see it. Just did a 2 day practical rifle course at Front Sight Nevada over the weekend with my new upper from Denny at GTS (You can see it in the AR forums listed under uppers posted by dennysguns). Got it last Monday, loctited and lubed everything and I started out by taking it out Friday to break it in. Fired approx 700 rounds of the XM193PD, Q3131A, some South African, and some Radway green through it without a single hitch using all USGI 20's and 30's. It functioned flawlessly without touching it. Bought 1000 rounds of the XM193PD from ammoman.com to split with my buddy coming out from Kalifornia and sorted through it by hand to inspect for the damaged rounds that I had heard about in the ammo forums. Found only 22 rounds that were dented or the bullet was crimped out a little too for but nothing real bad. They were all "fireable" and I used them up slow firing. Used another approx 200 rounds the weekend of the course and had no ammo related problems whatsoever. My buddy used it in his Mini 14 without any hitches. Using an ACOG 4x on my upper it was shooting about 3-31/2" groups at 200 yards under very windy conditions from prone using the XM193PD. I am anxious to see what it will print when I am shooting some match quality ammo at 100 yards with no wind! All of the fellow stundents and even the 3 instructors were all commenting on how good the upper looked and shot. I was consistantly outshooting the bolt guns that were in the class at all distances. I can't speak highly enough of Denny at Global Tactical and his builds. I am thrilled right now to say the least! Here are my observations from this weekend: 1. Denny puts together great builds and has great customer service. 2. The Front Sight experience was a good one...no hard sell, great instructors. 3. The XM193PD worked flawlessly for $199 delivered. Great for range work. 4. Saw lots of people using aftermarket mags and having mag related issues...use USGI! Thought I would post my experience for others to see...enjoy! |
