In my first post, silly.

www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_16200,00.html

1 whole chicken (broiler/fryer) cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
10 sprigs fresh thyme
40 peeled cloves garlic
Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Toss with a 2 tablespoons olive oil and brown on both sides in a wide fry pan or skillet over high heat. Remove from heat, add oil, thyme, and garlic cloves. Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours.

Remove chicken from the oven, let rest for 5 to 10 minutes, carve, and serve.

P.S. Get some crusty bread to spread that garlic on, and dunk it into the sauce.   Ummmmmmmm....

When you saute the jalapinos, they lose some fire, right?! How hot are then when done?

4/5/2005 10:03:52 PM EDT
[#12]
As long as you get rid of the seeds you should be ok.

MrsGloftoe, that looks damn good.  I'm glad you posted a nice dinner pics.  Between the time I posted my first dinner pic an now, they got ridiculous with all the extra crap put into the picture.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

If you completely remove the seeds and pith (the white stuff), then saute until brown around the edges, they are absolutely not hot at all when done.  Equivalent to a bell pepper in heat, but with a more delicate flavor.  I wouldn't hesitate to give some to my 3 year old, and she freaks out when there's a fleck of black pepper on her food.

U-baddog, where did you learn to do math?  According to my calculations, the above equals 10.5.  And, I must say, this particular dish looks like it could indeed by a 10.5!  Nicely done.

Right.

I found the recipe.

I browned the meat.

I told you how to cook the jalapenos.

And you didn't even have grapes on your plate.

Takes two to tango!

How come I wind up with a different number altogether?

A negative 1.50?

Does it have anything to do with my attendance at the Jethro Beaudine School of Cyphering?

(BTW, I'd give it a 10.5 just for the beautiful outcome!)

ok I am busting out the slide ruler

No guns, knife, alcohol, measuring device - 6 ETH this was with an assumed 10 points to start with so down 10 - 6 = 4
Dark meat chicken + 1 + 4= 5
Whole roasted garlic cloves + 0.25 + 5=5.25
Real herbs  +0.25 + 5.25=5.50
Heavy bottom oven proof saute pan + 0.25 ( Calphalon ? )+5.50=5.75
Gas stove top pic +.75 +5.75=6.5
First female to post a dinner pic to my knowlege +2 + 6.5=8.5

Total 8.5

Sorry for the error

No lie, I spent my early school years with a kid in a hockey helmet knocking his head on the desk on one side of me and a kid with puddle of drool running down his chest on the other side.
I am pretty happy to just add whole numbers let alone fractions.
