That dispatcher handled that very well, very well. No comments, no laughing on the phone. (I assume it happened after but she was very professional on the phone.)

If someone can prove that they were trying to get through with an actual emergency during that call, they should sue her ass off!

Doubt it. You can't possibly imagine what people have called 911 for.....I've been sent to calls more frivolous than this...

I didn't listen to it, but I can guess.  Is it the one where some brain-dead individual calls 911 because the fast food joint charged her for extra condiments?

I think that the story made the rounds in the news, or local paper, or at least a few message boards a few years ago.  I think it's real.

The audio is from a radio station's website.  What I read is that the audio is of a Sheriff's Office dispatcher who the call was transferred to from a 911 operator.  I also read that the radio station DJ's put the dispatcher on the air to talk about this phone call.

OK, then I'll take the time to listen to it.

Anyone have the audio for the one I mentioned?

EDITED:  Wow, that was funny, but more than that, it made me fear for our future.

That person did not sound stupid.  So what is it?  What is in the heads of people like that?

Yeah, she wasn't rude but she was very firm.
But why the heck do you call 911 for a cheeseburger?!  Hopefully there wasn't a burning building that was getting busy signals.

I had a guy call last year telling me he had a severe rash and burning and itching, so...hook him up with EMS, mute the call and listen in to make sure it's not something dangerous to others or hazardous. The man goes on to explain to EMS guy that his girlfriend had given him crabs, and they bugged him so much that he took a can of RAID roach spray and hosed down his crotch.

Is it illegal to hang up on people like that or something?  I mean, wasn't the lady taking the call wasting precious time that could be used taking a life-or-death call by trying to convince the lady that she couldn't help her?

Here's how it would have gone if I took the call:

ME "911, what is your emergency?"

CALLER  "That damn soda jerker is slacking off and I'm being left in the lurch!"

ME  "OK, I have called the police to your position to kick your ass and spray you with mace."  *click*

The first time i heard it I thought it was a skit done by a couple experianced dispatchers for some cops retirement party or such.  I have since been assured by the call taker you hear on the tape that it was a real call, not a skit.

Hanging up on any caller would be generally considered rude & unprofessional.  the tin foil panties crowd would get all bent out of shape over it too.
Cops regularly respond to these types of non criminal complaints becuase people dont like to hear the N word. "No."

Not fake.  I listen to that radio station.  The 911 operator also listens to the radio station and heard them talking about it on the air and called to say "Hey, that was me!"  Funny as fuck!

Do you live in L. Niguel?  It's no south central LA by any means.  But they have their fair share of rapes and way too many fatal car crashes from DUI's & Street Racing.  IIRC they also found one of the biggest meth labs in OC history there about 18 months ago.  The HA's have at least one clubhouse there.  Lots of Peni & NLR parolees there too. It's one of those souless cities with no "down town" to speak of.  Just endless gated communities, apartment complexes and strip malls.  I sometimes have to go there to serve a warrant or track down a PAL, and there is a significant prison gang presence in that community.
