Howdy, all.

There is a group out there raising money for the families of those who have loved ones KIA'd in Iraq.  It's called GI bracelets.  They're at www.gi-bracelet.org/

The bracelets are five bucks each and ALL of the money goes to the fund(s) - you choose which ones you want your donation to go to.

They can use all the help they can get and they're doing a great thing for those families.

I've bought and received mine, it was here a few days after I bought it.  When you buy them, make sure you tell them you heard about it here!

Thanks

I was listening to the stories of wounded women soldiers on NPR tonight. What courageous fighters the three of them are. And how proud they were to say they were US soldiers and had done their duty.
It really made me tear up.

Those were the Viet Nam MIA/POW bracelets. I had one when I was in the 82nd Abn. They were authorized wear with the uniform at Division.

Not to make anyone mad, cause I don't know, but...

I watched a special on T.V. about bracelets like these for cancer research a couple days ago, and all but one brand of them were fake.  As in, the money doesn't go to anyone but the makers of the bracelet.

As a Marine, I think this idea is GREAT to support troops and their families... but everyone please beware that you might just be putting your money in some non-deserving pocket.

Could anyone possibly compile a list of AUTHENTIC vendors of these things??

The only Vendors for those cancer bracelets was the companies web site, select Nike stores, and Those Discovery channel stores....

Yes many of these types of bracelets are being sold at our local flea markets for between .50 to 5.00 each. Thats all the different colors, including the yellow ripoff of the one from Lance Armstrong (which is only supposed to be $1 I think with all the money going to the fund).  The ones I see are made in china of course.

I haven't checked out this site yet but will. My son wears 4 different bracelets for support of America.  They weren't for a cause except for his 10 yr oldness to show that he will SUPPORT AMERICA and her TROOPS.

I have the same worries. I would love to buy a few of these, but i don't want my money going to some bs company & not our troops.

I've exchanged emails with the guy that runs the site - he's working with the sites that get the  donations to put the fact that he's doing this published on the respective sites.  FWIW, it seems legit.

I have some concerns as well, but orderd a few anyway. I hope it is legit and will certainly be checking them out further.

Not to hijack this worthy thread but AmericanSnipers.org has 3600 desert tan ones on the way ... should be here any day now ... and every single penny goes to the troops.
