The last snowfall motivated me to finally get the snowshoes out for a little adventure. It reminded me that the key to a good first day winter camping is to have plenty of tinder and an axe for both fire and shelter. The key to a good second day of winter camping is to not melt your mittens on the first day. |

Next weekend is our annual winter camp. A few years back 1 friend found out the USGI wool glove liners are not 100% wool. Melted a new pair to a wood stove pipe.  Winter camping isn't too bad now we have ECWS gear. Used to go out with poor cold rated equipment when we were in high school.
