Alright,
I gotta take the plunge.  I need to start making my own gun porn (and the wife used to be into photography years ago...she needs to take pics of her gardens, yard etc).  Anyhoo, I know jack shit about 'em.   What do you recommend?  I've been looking at...

Fuji Finepix E550
Sony Cybershot DSC-V1
Canon Powershot A95

and maybe...
Olympus C770 Ultra Zoom
Nikon CoolPix 5700

What do you all think and recommend?

I have an A60 and A85. I also have a Canon Elan 7 and another film body so I like Canon.

Go with the A95!!!

freeride actually turned me onto canons, and it's all I'm ever going to buy.
Excellent product quality, ease of use, and definatly more bang for the buck.

Scrub round the Sony DSC V-1 get it's replacement!

I've just bought a Sony DSCV-3 to replace my 3 year old DSC-S85

It's an awesome camera!  Terrific quality both optically and mechanically, 7megapixel and it can store over an hour of VGA qualty Video on a 1 Gig Compact Flash card!

My dad has a Canon 10D SLR body with a 1 gig card.  He already had all the lenses that he needs from the 35mm Canon body.  It just made sense to spend the money on the SLR body.  I love taking pictures with that camera!

I have a Fuju Finepix A340.  Hardly ever use it, so I went cheap.  Thing works like a champ and clarity is great.

Canon sucks.

I just ordered a Nikon 5900 which is a smaller model than what you are looking at.  The 5700 is all good from what I have heard.  I have heard good about the Fujis also.

We have four Olympus 750C's at the office. The line crew hasn't broken them, excellent pics too.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people buy 5 megapixel cameras for the sole purpose of putting 0.5 megapixel images on their photo hosting service.

For posting pictures of your guns on the web, ANY digital camera manufactured within the last 6 years is overkill.

untrue.. there are some things more current cameras do that ones from 6 years ago dont.. 15sec exposures, 30second exposures, BULB!, more iso numbers, better glass, faster on time, less shutter lag(time between button push and actual photo taken), larger buffers so you can burst the camera for x ammount of frames, noise reduction... and the #1 is INCREASED BATTERY LIFE!  heck my old kodak would kill a set of 4 AA's in 15 shots with the lcd on.. my canon a70 i could shoot 400+ photos with 4 AA alkalines, 600 with NiMH batt's
