Should there be another Matrix? Matrix 4? Is there room in the plot for another? The last one ended with peace in Zion but a certain dominance of the planet by the machines. Should Neo further his efforts to obliterate the machine overlords? |
No way. The first one and the Animatrix were the only good ones. |
I agree but i loved reloaded.. freeway scene owned |

NO! The first one was brillant and groundbreaking. The second one (since they were parts 1 and 2 I consider them just one long film) lost their way. Can anyone think of ANY multi-part film series that could equal or top what came before (besides Alien/Aliens, Terminator/T2 or Godfather/Godfather2)? I can't off the top of my head other than those. Let it die and move on to something else. In a few years there might be someone with a vision that could pull it off, but not the Wachowski's, not after they had all the resources and money in the world to do parts 2 and 3 and came up with what they did.

| the war was over....that was Neo's purpose, to end the war. But sure Id say another one would be good cause if there were indeed previous Neos then it should all start over again, but from the beginning so it would provide backround for the original Matrix (theoretically) |

I saw the 1st one and the 3d one. The 3d one pretty well destroyed the notion that there was a plot underlying the series, despite the fact that #1 held up well on its own. #3 was pure crap. It was like they found some abandoned warehouse full of worn out memes and half-assed symbols and decided to incorporate every one of them into the movie. It was as bad as any movie I have seen, other than "Kill Crazy." My answer is "No, there should not be another Matrix movie, unless the responsible parties can desuckify themselves." |
LOTR Of course, it was actually intended to be a trilogy. |
| I'd love to see a second trilogy about the lead up to and the initial war with the machines. Although the blackening the sky and using humans as batteries makes so little sense that it would be hard to see in a movie. Like I wish the architect would have told Neo in the second one, "You are mistaken as to the purpose of the Matrix, our power generation needs are saw too by fusion power plants, the Matrix, is merely a monument to our creators, our last showing of gratitude saving or parents so to speek from extinction" or something to that effect. Would made me able to swallow the movie so much more.... |
Blade, Rambo........ |
I would say just put our more Animatrix like work. If a movie had to be made. Make the Second Renaissance into a good movie with asskicking special effects. |
That was taken care of in the Animatrix. The Second Renaissance. |

+2 The original film was such an original twist that it really made you think - lots of analogies with the real world in there. The story ended with Revolutions. As much as I would love to see these characters return, I don't think there is any way to do it. The story could continue from where Revolutions ended, but it will never hit as hard as the 1st movie. |
Which plot? You mean the plot of the first movie? Or do you mean the thing that was missing from the other two? It is obvious that the Wachoski(sp) brothers stole the idea for the original since we can see their scary "talent" in the next two. ![]() |

The problem with the matrix series is easy to summarize. The first one was believable. I know that after I left the theater, I was thinking to myself "wow, this could be happening and I would have no idea.." The other two were so far out there that they destroyed what the matrix series could have been. |
I was actually hoping for a plot twist like that. I was willing to suspend dibelief on the better sources of power, but why, if humans were such a struggle, could they not just use the energy from other animals - assuming animal energy was needed? The first movie opened so many possibilities regarding philosophy, self-determination, free will, fate, etc. I expected deeper stuff in the sequels. Instead, it's as if the producers only stumbled upon the apparent depth by accident. |
Nope - Airwolf covered pretty much all of 'em, IMHO. Of course [the original], Dawn of the Dead might be up there for pure fun's sake. Maybe The Road Warrior. |
i'll second (or third) that. the first film opened a new vista, and i was counting on the second to broaden it--to cause us to recast our assumptions yet again. instead, it seemed as though the the filmmakers fell into the same trap as lucas did, i.e., "we finally have enough budget to do REALLY COOL action scenes." this phenomenon usually removes the premium from good writing and good story. as orson welles put it, "the absence of limitation is the enemy of art." to my mind, two most powerful vignettes from anamatrix were the suicide and the sprinter. either of those could have been made in live-action for a pittance. one would have thought that the W brothers learned something from this. sadly, they didn't. |
