Ben Hur is showing on TCM. The chariot race is about to start.

This is still the greatest movie sequence ever.

Ramming Speed!

I saw the original B&W version on TCM several months ago.

I have to say the Oscar winning version is much, much better.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this movie.

It may be for its sublime Christian undertones, the extraordinary performances by the cast, or the fact that my Israeli cousin, Ezra Ben Hun, appeared as one of the extras in this movie!

+1

Choreographed IIRC by the great Yakima Canutt – which to my mind has always made it a bit of a Western, only with chariots instead of stagecoaches.
