Is there a 'right' way to tie the pant cuffs?

[#1]
sure, remove the damn ties and use blousing straps.

Exactly.  Never had a use for the ties.

Blouse them in your boots. Keeps the critters out.

+1...make sure you make them short shorts...so you look kinda like Lt. Dangle from Reno 911.

I never tie em either. Tried it once , the knot puts pressure on your leg. Better to blouse em.

I knot them loose. Blousing straps seemed too tactical to me.

I dont wear boots. It just seems a 'bow' is not correct.
Eric, I wear pants because it easier to carry my weapon. I have one of those underarmor things but I hate it even though it works. I like my Comp-Tac and it needs pants with a belt so its either jeans or BDUs.

heres a trick i learned because i have long legs and was issued medium regular I lace up my boots then I tie the BDU pants about a inch about the boot, then I can blouse them. It looks pretty good.

I always rolled'em in the field. Too damned hot in the CA desert for anything else.

No boots?  Then cut - somewhow remove - that tie.
ETA:  let the cuffs flop around like any other pair of trousers.

I saw a guy who wore tennis shoes and tied that tie - man that looked dorky.

Never paid attention to them in 8 Years in the Army.

Either bloused with the velcro bands or tied to the boot about half way down with the straps like we did in Panama. Water balloons in your pants and actually stays in the ripstops for a short time. Swimming is out of the question with properly bloused boots.

They're called Boot Bands.

They're long enough that if I tie 'em they sorta blouse themselves over my sneakers. If I let them loose they would trip me.

Oh...OK.  Then I'd cut them off.

I always cut mine off.  Then instead of using the blousing bands like some here have said, I grabbed the cuff and pulled all the slack behind my leg, then folded it over to the inside of my ankle.  Then stuffed my foot in my boot.  That's tough to describe in written words...

In real hot weather, not blousing and even rolling up the cuffs makes a big difference - at least to me it did.

I always just roll the ends up… looks very tactical, (USMC stylie), helps keep you cool, and lets the gas escape if you let one rip!

I've never looked for them, but if you have access to AAFES, you can search their site.

ETA:  I went to the AAFES site to look for a new CD player - I didn't see any metal blousing bands.

That'll be $39.95.

ties are a waste, another vote for blousing straps
