Just had a little icon pop up and say that I was low on virtual memory.

How do I fix that and what caused it?

Right click on my computer, click properties.  Go to the Advanced tab, then under the performance category click "settings".  Click advanced tab,  and change the virtual memory down at the bottom.

P.S. How much memory do you have on your pc, and what is the setting at now?

Virtual memory is just hard drive space that acts as memory when your memory sticks are in 100% use, and is super slow compared to real memory.

Low virtual memory warnings popping up on a relatively unabused machine without a shitload of apps running.. That can be a warning flag that unknown programs (virus? spyware?) are eating up your system resources.

I would reboot the machine, then begin scanning with Norton/Mcaffee, Spybot search and destry, and Ad-Aware.

You can increase the size of your virtual memory, or you can try and find out WTF is eating up the memory.
