What do you do with the odd number of rounds left over? I'm loading AK mags right now and had 10rds left over. This time, I put them on a stripper clip for the SKS. I suppose this wouldn't be a problem if I loaded my mags at the range. But what a waste of time that is. So, extra 5, 10, 15rds ...what do you guys do with them? I hate loading my mags to below their capacity. If I ever grabbed one for a SHTF situation I want to know there's 30rds in the 30rd mag and not 15 or 10. |

I really don’t have that problem. Pistol ammo is almost always emptied into .30 ammo cans. So when I load up the magazines there is never any *loose rounds left over. I may bring extra rounds that are still in their original boxes with me to the Range, but they are shot before I leave. Rifle ammo is kept in their original box until I load the rounds in an MTM 50 or 100 round carry box. When I get to the Range I load the rifle from the carry box. The exception here is my M16. I load the magazines direct from the box. I may put extra on stripper clips, or I may put several boxes worth on stripper clips for use at the Range. Either way, I use up all the rounds I take with me to the Range. The rare exception is when I got rained on last year. Otherwise I never have any rounds “Left Over” unless there is a malfunction with the firearm. *Attention Arcomers who never Spell Check. There is the difference between “Lose”, associated with ‘Lost’, and “Loose”, which is the apposite of ‘Tight’. Got it? |
