On my laptop (Dell Inspirion) a lot of things I run on it show on screen as a little box in the middle of the screen.

The screen -is 12" wide, the actual program (right now a game, but it does it on damn near any CD) is 5".

The screen is 8.5" high, and the rendering is 4" high. It is centered.

I am assuming this is a computer setting, as it does this on a lot of things.

Any help appreciated!!!!

is the game old? if it is, it might not be able to be run full screen because of your screens resolution settings

ETA- right click on your desktop, select properties, then go to the settings tab, that will allow you to change resolution and other screen settings

Need for Speed III

Its not just this, it runs other stuff in the same manner.

WinXP

desktop
select properties
settings tab

that will allow you to change resolution and other screen settings

Ok, I took screen resolution from 1280 X 1024 pixels  to  1600 X 1200, it didnt stop the program from only being 8X5, it just made the wallpaper bigger than the screen.

Blah.........I thought it was the compatibility setting, but it wasnt.......... checked 256 color & 600X something else......

Shit.....

Well, you'd have to set the resolution IN the game.  Most games will not go by what resolution you have set in your OS.

I don't kow what the hell you mean when you say 'same with other CDs'.

Some programs, especially games, write data directly to the hardware and bypass the operating system.  They do this for maximum speed.  There is likely nothing that can be done.

Right click on anypart of the screen when you minimize programs.  Click on "Properties."  Go from there.
