The Neutral Observer fell asleep on the sofa this afternoon for a short nap, and left the television on at a low volume.

The Neutral Observer had a dream with vivid musical accompaniment in the form of an Algerian cavalry march; usually the dreams don't have music.

They just replayed the music on the television, so that explains that.  It was probably the music that triggered the dream.

I've done that before.

I once fell asleep with my We Were Soldiers DVD playing and I was dreaming I was in the battle. It was pretty intense.

It's weird how sometimes things like that will get incorporated into dreams.

If you ever dream that you're peeing, try to make it stop.

This had been a public service announcement.

Why do you talk about yourself in the third person?

The Neutral Observer needs to turn off the TV before napping...

I swear, this comes up in every single thread.  Its just a funny little gig he's got.  I, and many others as well, enjoy it.

What's even more funny is the fact that when WWE wrestler The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) started doing his third person commentary, everyone was running around imitating him, acting as if it was the greatest thing ever. You know, "The Rock says this or The Rock says that". Yet when The Neutral Observer does it, people ask why? LOL.

And of course, the answer is..........................
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHY!

This author has had a number of dreams obtain content from outside sources like a television or radio.  The screaming in the Peltor intercom from a navigator woke this author up from a nap on a long stage...

I fell asleep on the couch last week while watching Seinfeld.  I missed the entire episode, but when I woke up, I remembered the entire thing.

Doesn't hurt any that I've seen the episode about 15 times.

Of course... during my half hour wake-up process every morning Rush Limbaugh is always in my dreams.

Back in high school I was spending the night at a friend's house and had a dream where this really cool music was playing.   All of a sudden, the music stopped which woke me up.  I looked across the dark room and my friend was waking up and mumbling "who turned off the music?".   He got up and opened the door and the house was dark and quiet, nobody up.

We talked about how we had both been dreaming of a song that suddenly stopped and he said the song he was dreaming about was "Money" by Pink Floyd.  I said I'd never heard that song or the song I dreamt about so he got up and rummaged through his cassettes and popped in "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Money" was the song I had dreamed about.   I had NEVER heard it before that moment.

Strange.

I was on the FOX News panel with Brit Hume a few weeks ago in my dream, and woke up very confused...it seemed so real.

I'm always partially awake and listening for reasons to wake up. If it's nothing important, I stay asleep. If it's something I want to be fully conscious for, I wake up. If I leave the radio on at night, I'll wake up in time to groove to a really cool song, then go right back to sleep. If there are suspicious sounds coming from outside, I wake up.

So one day I was taking a nap in the living room and having the usual dreams of guns and conquering the philistines, but I kept wondering why the sound track and dialogue to that annoying Spy Kids movie was playing in the background during my dream and why it felt like something heavy was on me. I decided to wake up and investigate, only to find, to my supreme annoyance, that my sisters and cousin were all sitting on my legs and torso watching the movie, apparently not caring that they were crushing me in my sleep.

After that, they couldn't understand how I always woke up in time to smack them in the back of the head anytime they went near me while I was asleep.

I fell asleep listening to Pat Metheny.

Dreamed I could play guitar JUST LIKE PAT METHENY.

This is why I always put on Barb Wire if I'm going to take a nap.
