I went to a sporting goods store here by my house and I had some money buring a hole in my pocket. I saw this air pistol that looked just like a Glock 30. It was a Gamo auto air .45. It looked just like the real thing. I thought this would be cool to tinker around with in the basement. I told the salemen I would take it and he asked if I had a Purchase Permit (thats what we have to get in order to purchase a handgun in Michigan) I said what. He told me I had to get a purchase permit (background check)and register it as if it was a firearm. Since it used a pellet and had a rifled barrel. I said that will be the day I register an airpistol. Six |

I'm from Michigan originally, and I remember that BS law well. I never could get any cool BB or pellet pistols for that reason. Michigan's gun laws suck, but not as much as some other states. That's one of the reasons I'm glad I live in free (mostly) state of Arizona now. The gun culture in Michigan, as I witnessed it, sucked. Pretty much the feeling among gun owners there was that if it wasn't good for hunting you didn't need it or shouldn't have it. Guns weren't something that they even talked about that often outside the realm of hunting, everything else was too radical. All the ranges were lame too (unless you belonged to a private club), you could use single load only. |
