I know someone who eats a mere 250 cal/day and still gains weight. Unfortunately he's got bad knees and can't do any "traditional" exercise. Even swimming or just walking a mile a day causes them to swell badly. 5 operations later the knees are what they are, so no joy there. Forget "real" exercise like running or playing a sport! So, any suggestions on how to provide my friend with a more realistic metabolism? Wheelchair racing is not an option Better living through chemistry? |

There is more to this. I call BS. Your friend is drinking sodas or sneaking food. It is physiologically impossible. Your friend can reduce from his lying 250 a day to a true 1200-1500 a day, and do 30 minutes of cardio every day. He will be hungry but he will lose weight. I have taken care of people who are unable to walk yet they continue to gain weight. I mean, they are 100% bedbound and crap in a bedpan and everything. When they are hospitilized for something or another, they awlays claim they eat like 500 calories a day and that's it. So we put them on a low cal (maybe 1500 to 1800) reducing diet. People sneak them food left and right. They beg. It's not pretty. Your friend is lying. |
