I grew up watching Transformers as a child, and so did many of my contemporaries. Because of my ability to smooth-talk 99% of people out of whatever I want from them (I get discounts, freebies, special deals, etc. from all over if I feel like being cheap. Once convinced the register monkey at Luby's to give me a senior citizen's discount of all things.), my friends named me Swindle, after a Transformers character who could sell ice to eskimos. The name stuck. The 1984 comes from the book by Orwell, even though I've never had the opportunity to read it. |

Many moons ago, when I was a dork with a modem and a BBS, a couple of bad things happened that required a handle change. This was very early 90's. A friend of mine had the nick Evil_Ernie. Evil_Bert sounded too dorky. Considering what we were trading...Evil_Ed, as an homage to Edward Teach, seemed more appropriate.. It's kinda stuck from there. At a ghost-out, I was voted "person who most looks like their handle" once

Well, I was a Sgt. at the time and my cell phone's last 4 numbers were "5494". A female friend had a hard time remembering my phone number, so she spelled it out with the alphabet on the phone and it spelled "KIWI". It kind of caught on, and became a sort of, "nickname". You can do the math after that. |

Well, my nick goes back to when I first signed onto AOL. My name is Rick and I write fiction (would like to do it for a living, but as things stand I do it for a hobby). The name "Rick Writer" was already taken on AOL at the time, so I took out the "C." When I first signed onto ar15.com waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy back in the day, I had just dropped AOL so I just used the same nick. |
