Ok, I'm looking for a new gunbelt. For starters, I want leather. I'm having trouble deciding on size. My mag pouches and jeans loops will take a 1-1/2" belt, so that's what I'm leaning towards. Anyone find, in general, a smaller size is needed for any reason (ie for the loops on "casual" pants/slacks like dockers, etc)? I'm currently thinking either Milt Sparks or High Noon. Any other recommendations? Thanks!! rvb |
+1. That's what I use. I got the 1 1/2" double thick horsehide model, so I can't use it in dress pants. I'm planning on buying another that is appropriate to dress pants as well. I also like the gun belts that "thin down" in the front so it doesn't require such a large buckle. |
+1 Best prices but just as good. |
| I've only had one pair of pants that couldn't handle a 1.5" belt and those were the pants half of a suit. Khakis and jeans are always fine with 1 1.5". Sometimes dress slacks are a tight fit and you have to work at it a little. All dress slacks and a few khackis have been too tight to handle a second pass with the end of the belt that sticks past the buckle. |

For CCW, if price is no object get a Mitch Rosen belt, www.mitchrosen.com They are 1.25" inches, available with 1" tapered ends. They'll fit in any set of belt loops, even on the "daintiest" dress slacks. What they lack in width they make up in thickness. Very substantial support. Absolutely the best quality I've ever seen. Because of this they don't look like gunbelts. I own a Wilderness belt and the Mitch stuff beats it hands down. That said, if you dress in jeans every day (or, heaven forbid, 5.11s |
aa is right. These are some of the best in the business. I have used his products for over 15 years and they work great. |
I have one of those. Great belt. |

In leather I’ve got a Kramer, Mitch Rosen, Dillion and Rafter, and Durango Leather. For price, craftsmanship, and quality I’d have to go with Durango Leather. Ken makes a makes a beautiful gun belt in premium quality 7-8 oz Hermann Oak Saddle leather for the front and the same 7-8 oz Hermann Oak for the back. He also specializes in Ranger belts. I ordered the one with the Ranger buckle set. The buckle set is neat ‘cause it’s the ones worn by the Texas Rangers, is made by Texas prisoners and, is signed on the back of the buckle with the prisoners signature and his prison ID number. Is that poetic justice or what? [ ![]() No one really knows Ken ('till now I guess). He's retired military (twenty some years) and is a one-man shop that works out of his home. Like I said... he does beautiful work. I'll try to post pics of a Ranger belt he's finishing for me now. What he did was special order an embossing tool that will create the circular bottom of a bullet casing. It will show the “.45 ACP” caliber stamp with the inner dented silver primer. The entire perimeter edge of my belt will have a 3 dimensional look of spent .45 casings. And for god sakes if anyone does check him out please don't post back about how unbelievably low his prices are...it will only encourage him to increase them. |
