I can't count how many times where I've had to look for shit and try to do stuff in the back of my truck at night and not being able to see.

Well I had a pack of cheapo halogen driving lights laying around so I mounted them up in the bed and even tied it into my alarm so I can activate them remotely.

They're bright enough that it makes the back of my bed glow, kind of UFO looking at night.

Try and figure out how I mounted them

It's on my list.  I'm just helping out the dealer by scuffing up my bed a bit first.

Did you wire them into the taillights?

Ran them to a distribution point I have inside the cab.  Can't see the wires can ya

You should've mounted them to the back of your cab, facing rearward.  That way when some jag-off has his highbeams on, you can "let him know".

Brilliant!  Literally!

I've been thinking about putting 12 volt clear rope lights under the rails.

My truck is high enough that it doesn't bother me.  And that they wouldnt shine over my tailgate.

How long before they get bashed by shifting cargo? You might want to bolt in a steel cage around them for protection.

Doesn't really matter if they do.  They're only 8 bucks and I have a couple of spare sets.

Thanks but my Avalanche came with them.  Only on the left side though.  May have to do the right with this.

Where did you run your wire?

In my truck, they would last less than a day.

+1, also my truck came with cargo lamps in the 3rd brake light. Doesn't your Ford have em?

Ditto. forums.handloads.com/smileys/smiley20.gif

They both suck when you have a heavy load and use one of the roll off type dumpers.  The load is pressed down and the line-x / rhino makes it near impossible to dump.

Btw, I had rhino sprayed in my Jeep TJ and loved it.  Was easy to spray off when muddy.

Not bright enough and if you have a toolbox, you can't see 80% of the bed anyway.
