I understand that old 870 pump actions  used to have a slam-fire trigger, but they discontinued that.

I wondered if there was a simple way to modify the trigger group to restore this functionality.

Thanks

Ithaca model 37s do that but I have never heard that about 870s

It was something with the Disconnector

I’ve never heard of 870’s doing that.

My understanding is that newer Ithaca’s have been modified to prevent it.

(And fiddling around with a trigger assembly – in particular trying to defeat a safety mechanism – raises some obvious issues.)

FWIW, I used to have an old Stevens pump that would do that.  However, it once went off on me before it was totally in battery.    Not a pleasant experience!!

Only older Ithaca 37's can do it. I have both the older and newer models.

I have never heard of 870s having this feature.  In addition to older Ithaca 37s and Stevens (520 and maybe the 620), the old Winchester 1897/97 and (I believe) Model 12 also have this feature.  The Stevens and Winchesters are also available in take-down form.  I have an old 1897, take-down made in 1908.

Winchester 1897s do it too.  (It sure opened my friend's eyes when I showed him that after he got one.)

I'm not sure if that "feature" is included in the Norinco copies that have been made in the last few years or not.

I must've been thinking of the Win 1897?  Who knows , I thought old 870s did it as well.

Ah well, I won't fiddle with the disconnector .... this time
