How many of you are a member of the NRA..? Be honest.. Thinking about joining but not sure... Good reasons..? Thanks - Travis |

Endowment Life member of the NRA. Perpetually a member of my State Association of Rifle & Pistol Clubs. Who else actively spends money to preserve my sport? ETA: The NRA I see supports competition shooting, handgun safety training classes (in New Jersey no less), and fights the frivolous lawsuits that threaten all gun manufacturers. I guess they spport hunters, but I get a different magazine from them that isn't hunting focused. |
+1 Except I haven't always kept up with the memberships. That's why I need to go Life. Dad had a Life membership, I grew up reading the American Rifleman every month. Brother is an annual member. |
| Member here. No one else is as effective. I joined after hearing anti after anti complain of being "bullied" by the NRA. The gun grabbers clearly fear them, and do their best to villianize them as a result. It's obvious that the NRA is effective. That's good enough for me. I have my problems with the NRA (nobody's perfect), but it's clearly evident that I'm not throwing money at a lost cause. |

I appreciate what the NRA does but the just don't have the balls they used to. it used to be no comprimise now if the NRA had an agenda similar to the GOA we'd be golden. and if the GOA had the membership size of the NRA and similar coverage. when you say im a GOA member people look at you like whats that? NRA has their seal on about any sort of product, and reconized by everyone |
| The NRA can get the speaker of the house on the phone to kill a bill like the lawsuit preemption bill when the dem's tried to attach an extention of the AWB on it last summer. What can GOA do? The NRA is the biggest kid on the block. $35.00 a year? That 15 cups of 7-11 coffee. MIKE. |
What he said. GOA is a great no-compromise group, but they just don't have the same pull as the NRA. I'm an annual member, and I also donate to the NRA-ILA in $20 chunks from time to time. |
Um, I think it's the other way around. They used to exist mainly to organized shooting events, safety courses, and such. They have become more political in recent decades. Also, most of the complaints about them compromising have been about events in the past. Don't you remember how the steadfastly opposed AWB renewal and even sacrificed Lawsuit Reform to prevent it? The NRA is the best it's ever been. Oh yeah, one more member checking in here. |
You get a monthly magazine and a wide variety of discounts, special offers, and other perks (if you take advantage of them). |
Cato556 is exactly correct. The NRA is the reason we no longer than the So-called Assault Weapon Ban. Don't kid yourself. |
