I would say it would be a toss-up between the M1903 and the M98 Mauser.

I currently have (3) 1903A3's, two Remingtons and a Smith-Corona.

The thing I like about the Mauser, is that the almost unlimited variations of this rifle.  You can own a 100 rifles and still not have them all.

In my opinion, The M98 WAS the battle rifle of the world.

I have to admit, I also like my No4Mk1 Enfields, specially my Savage Arms one.

Well, maybe every rifle I own is my favorite.

3-9 scope & (4) 30 round mags, & brick of CCI Mini-Mags. Save aluminum cans at work for a week and set up at 100 yards.
Blast away, cheap.
Otherwise, SKS Paratroper w/Williams peep sight.

Lee Enfield Ishapore .308.
That Indian policeman who had it before me must have been a marksman, because I put it on paper at 300 yards right out of the box. My only beef with it is the 10 round mags cost $30 and in the prone position, it really kicks. [sniper]
