They're at it again. Our local scumrag, the Tennessean, has a headline about "firearms responsible for most homicides in 2004".

Needless to say I wrote a scathing letter to the editor but I'm not holding my breath.

Keeping with their PC bullshit, they mention most victims were black but never mention the perps. Big surprise! They've also just got a new editor from Dee-troit. I bet he loves guns too.

Firearms were responsible for most of 2004 homicides

By YVETTE CRAIG
Staff Writer

Firearms killed most of the 58 people slain across Nashville last year — the fewest homicides since 1967, according to Metro Police Chief Ronal Serpas.

''While murder is very often one of the most difficult crimes to predict and prevent, I fully believe that the outstanding work of our police officers in neighborhoods throughout Nashville played a significant role in bringing the murder count down,'' Serpas said in a news release.

The total number of arrests by police through Dec. 25 increased 16% over the year before. Narcotics arrests jumped 8%, and the number of traffic stops increased by 16 %, Serpas added.

Fifty of the 58 cases have been cleared by arrest, have warrants on file, are awaiting grand jury action or were cleared when the suspect died.

Investigations continue on the remaining cases, police report.

By yesterday, two people had been killed in 2005.

There are many things my father taught me. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
