No, not the ass bomb that follows.

Just discovered the wonder of the MRE heater inserted into a plastic bottle the other night.  What a trip.

First bottle was a Sam's Choice 20 oz. water bottle.  Used a pretty new heater (4 chamber fabric heater).  It took about 10 minutes for the bottle to pop.  Bottle expanded and stretched, then the cap blew.

Second bottle was a 24 oz. Coke bottle.  Used the same heater as above.  Let it set for 25 minutes, no pop.  It expanded quite a bit, but the plastic was too thick to expand greatly.  Ended up tossing a 15 lb. rock on it.  The bottle blew out on the side and sounded like a frickin 12 gauge.

Third bottle was another 20 oz. water bottle.  Used an older heater, but still the 4 chamber design.  Let it go for about 25 minutes, no pop.  It took the heater quite a while to get going as well.  Hit it with a 10 lb. rock, just nicked the plastic and lost all of the pressure.

Fourth bottle was another 20 oz. water bottle.  Used a really old heater with the solid fuel block contained in cardboard.  Broke the block up and put in the bottle.  Took it forever to activate.  Didn't think it was going to do anything, but it blew like a grenade after 10 minutes.  Stretched the bottle about 2X it's original length and split it laterally.  Made quite the BOOM as well.

I'll post pics later.

the trick is to use more than just one heater per bottle, 3-4 will give quite a bang and quickly too

Try hot water and run.....

The bug juice packets also seem to add some extra kick.

Little bits of dry ice work quite well, too.

I've got a limited supply, have to make them last.

I'm gonna try a 2 liter bottle in about 2 weeks.  Need to crack open a few of my packaged MRE's and get the heaters.

Don't increase the size of the bottle, increase the number of heater packets. Add tobasco to get a nice cloud  of improvised "CS".  Try to find bottles that are very tough and won't blow the cap off before the pressure gets really high.

Don't blow your eye out.

If ATF has sunk to the point of trying to stop people from popping soda bottles with MRE heaters they are probably hurting for work.

How'd ya like to find yourself sittin' on the Group W bench, up on charges of MRE bomb making...

".....wha'd you do??"

"......MRE bomb.."

The larger bottle will form a hot spot and melt causing a vent to form... you need to make a tough plastic bottle... If you have a Marine close to you, and he is sleeping just grab a canteen and empty about half the water... Insert heater, shake, and throw.
