I need to find and join a CMP affiliate organization so that I can get an M1 Garand next year. I can't find any that are close by. Is there away to join one without have to go to a DCM shoot? |

| I have shot a high power match before, but did not use that as my proof of marksmanship requirement when I finally put in for a CMP rifle (just last month, as a matter of fact). I sent a copy of my USPSA (US Practical Shooting Association) classification card. They have become less strict about the proof of marksmanship requirement. You can go to your local range and have the range officer witness you shooting and as long as he will sign his signature on range stationary saying he saw you do it, that would be sufficient. Here is the CMP club affiliation form from the CMP site. Just enter your state and it will tell you all the clubs in your state that will qualify. clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearch.cgi I am a member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association.....$18 a year I believe. Navigate their site to see what all the ways of qualifying for the proof of marksmanship are. |

Go to the odcmp web site. I was also thinking about this (and putting together an order-my first) so i looked up the qualifying requirments. A DD-214 will work. A CCW liscense will work. I also wondered about belonging to a cmp affiliated club. Seems the Gun Owners of New Hampshire is one (I have been a member for five or six years) and i didn't even know. Go to the ODCMP site, its very educational. |
