Ok, here are some off the top of my head. Redskins, Cowboys Patriots, Dolphins Carolina, Atlanta Steelers, Raiders San Fran, Cowboys Browns, Bengals Denver, Oakland |
Green Bay and Chicago is the oldest rivalry in football. I am surprised the initial poster forgot about that one. |
Uh yeah, Green Bay and Chicago is a huge rivalry. In recent years it hasn't been such the rivalry anymore because the Bears are so bad, but historically it's a big one. Also Green Bay and Minnesota. I'd say that's probably a bigger rivalry than with Chicago at present. |
WVU vs Pittsburgh Florida vs Florida State what are some more great rivals of college? |
I think Dolphins-Jets is bigger. Having lived here in South Florida all my life and been to 10 or so of those games they get downright nasty. I think it has to do with the huge New York population down here. I think the hitting in the stands is worse than on the field. Lots of arrests.

I'd have to believe that the rivalries in the NCAA are far more intense than the NFL as well. Alabama/Auburn Tennessee/Alabama Texas/Oklahoma etc. |
| The NFL they play for money. They are hired mercs in a way and they are loyal to whom ever pays them the most. NCAA you play for pride and for the tradition surrounding your school. You get a trophy and kick up to the NFL if you win. But plenty of those guys never get to the NFL so they play with everything they got because it will the end of the line and are not playing for anything else but for their school and themselves. |
The SEC is one big rivalry with the exception of teams like Vanderbilt. |
| And College players don't get paid???? Come on. That's funny. I'll agree that college ball is usually more interesting to watch but there's something to be said about being able to control your ball clubs destiny and not leaving it up to coaches and AP to decide it. That destroys any plus there is out there about College Ball. Besides, some NFL has been playing for quite a few years also, certain teams. MLB has been around over a 100 years and they don't have the rivalry NFL does. Length of time shouldn't mean a thing. |

I hate the Packers with all my heart, for no other reason than I am a Bears fan. I was kinda raised that way. (30 years growing up in Chicago). Now I live in Packer country (U.P.) and surrounded by the bastards. oh yeah, I wish we had that bastard Favre though. |
