Available on DVD tomorrow! AWESOME! |
|
I rented it tonight & I thought it was very funny & original. I would definitely recommend seeing it, but I also realize that some folks just aren't going to get the sweet humor. I suspect these will be the same folks who also lack nun-chuck skills, bow-hunting skills & computer hacking skills!!! |
Probably can't dance either. |
| The kid who wrote that movie I believe is from Preston, Idaho and I think it was also filmed there but I'm not positive about that. I meant to go see it in the theater because I own a ranch up in the mountains not more than 7 miles from Preston and I'm curious if I recognize any of the area where it was filmed. I've heard good things about it and will have to rent it for sure now. |
Lost in Translation was a victim of overexpectations. People thought they were going to get a classic Bill Murray type film, at least IMO. My initial reaction to LiT was that it was overhyped. But the more I watch it and think about it, the better it gets. Not nearly as bad as the reputation it has picked up. |
I did, and you're right about LIT. Word of mouth was terrific, the movie was a real bore. |

Napoleon Dynamite is a great movie for people who love shit movies. Nothing about it is good except for Rex-Kwon-Do and the dance sequence. There was so much hype that I went in thinking I was going to see a funny movie and was mistaken.... fatally mistaken. I was never so taken back by how bad it was. I only stayed in the second half hoping I would get my time'sworth and have some fulfillment knowing there was a point to the film, which there was not. I was later told that I should have gone in to the movie expecting nothing and thinking it was going to be bad. WTF? Go into a movie hoping it is bad? Only then will it be good? If I expect a bag of rotten peanuts to taste like rotten shit on a squirrel carcass and it just tastes like some old peanuts, I suppose those were some great peanuts then. When you think you will get -1% and you end up with 1.3%, that is a badass 1.3%. If I go into a movie I expect to be entertained, not surprised by how it wasnt just some guy in the theatre walking from seat to seat tearing your balls off with a wrench, which it almost was anyways. Some people tell me it is their favorite movie and I tell them they are stupid, and I explain to them why like I am now. What is good about it? NOTHING. Is there a reason to see it? Yes. It was funny AFTER I saw it, like when you get in a car accident and afterwards you laugh at how funny of a face you made, or when you stub your toe how funny of a sound you made as the bone snapped in two. Dont support Napoleon Dynamite. Watch entertaining movies. Dont support zero percent. |
I bet you don't like tether ball either? |
How many did you kill? LIKE 50 OF THEM, THEY WERE ATTACKING MY COUSINS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THAT SITUATION? Not an exact quote....I saw the movie a couple months ago.... |

Don't know if this holds true at all Wally Worlds, but my local WM has the DVD for $15.80something. Quite surprised to see that price, I think I'll wait till this afternoon to watch it though. Correction: walmart.com does have it for $15.87. Checked the price on Saturday and it was $19.99. |
Agreed And I actually liked the movies "King Arthur" and "I,Robot". Didn't think I'd like either but both were decent movies. |

This is a good movie. If you want all movies to be like the one you saw before, you won't like it. I was channel surfing on a cruise and saw a little of this. It was so stupid I had to watch it, and watch it again. I can think of a half dozen great scenes off the top of my head, one being the kids on the school bus driving by the farmer as he shoots the cow! |
+1 one of my favorite lines. "Did you kill any?" "Only like 50!" I went to the local store last night to pick up "Shaun of the Dead" and they didn't have it. They did have Napoleon Dynamite and I had seen the preview on the "Dodgeball" dvd. I thought it was a hilarious movie. Good stuff, maynard. |
Best Buy has it for 15.95 |
