I don't agree in smoking, but I feel that the tobacco companies are not responsible if you get sick. Besides, no one was making these people smoke excessively. I heard Michael Moore-on was behind those. |

I hate the commercials. In one I saw them in a mall literally yelling at people for smoking, and some girl was crying about how someone was hurting themselves by smoking (no one they actually knew, just some random person). I hate them on pretty much every level. Not enough to pick up smoking, but I do hate them. |

i think the commercials are funny but i will never understand why people blame the ciagrette companies. its not their fault you smoke and shouldnt be held responsible for your death if it comes to that. ill use this analogy cuz i just read the tread about the shark attack: that would be just like going after the surf board company because you got ate by a shark. the surf board company didnt make you buy the board and go surf...that was your choice. another idea would be to sue the car companies for people dying in car accidents. no one forced you to get behind the wheel and drive. people make their own decisions and dont need to blame others for their consequences. it annoys the hell out of me when fat people sue fast food companies because their food makes them fat...DONT EAT THEIR FOOD. good lord these people need to wake up and join the real world. (sorry for the rant) |

Hell, if it weren't for tabacoo related deaths the US would be over populated. Can't stand those commercials though. But the fact is is that the tabacoo companies are somewhat responsible for tabacoo related deaths. Don't forget that they did add chemicals and high levels of nicotene to addict smokers and covered up the fact that cigarettes cause lung cancer. Of course everyone now knows they did this so if you've taken up smoking within the last few years it is your responsibility. |
I was going to post something just like that. PS leave it to the libs to blame an inanimate object for peoples woes. Again they brush aside personal responsibility and blame problems on someone else. Yes they made them more addictive and that is BS. The things are hard as hell to quit. BUT every animal on this planet knows smoke in your face is NOT a good thing, except humans it seems. To blame the company for my bad decision in the first place is idiotic. The addictive chemicals are a non issue because inhaling smoke for joy is a stupid idea to begin with. I dont blame them for adding the chemicals. |
My fiancee had never used any drugs until her Fortune 100 company started doing random drug testing of employees. Then she tried marijuana a couple of times just out of spite - and this was when she was a global manager, on her way to the executive suite! ![]() |

Those Commercials make me wanna start smoking. However the kicker is that the Tobacco companies were made to make public service announcements discouraging the use of Tobacco as part of one of thier big settlements. Anyone wanna guess which anti-smoking capmpaign they write, produce and direct.... Any guesses? Any whatsoever... It makes me want to smoke out of sheer awe and respect to think about it. |

Went to a death call one night when I was a cop. Old man of 66 had been bedridden on oxygen alongside his wife in same situation. Old rickity shack. Guy and wife were career smokers. All the while draining our tax dollars to keep their sorry asses alive on medicare when diagnosed with lung cancer. Anyway, the old man kicked it. When they took the body out, the daughter, 45 year old career smoker of 400lbs, went ape shit. Got her ass calmed down. Meanwhile she and everyone else in the family went outside and watched the hurse and everyone of them, no shit, all of them lit up a smoke. Looked like the house was on fire from all the smoke. I bet 20 folks were out there puffing away. I wrote the report out while thinking how ironic this was and how stupid and weak they all were. I am glad I was not brought up in a smoker's home. Thank God. Flame suit/bic lighter suit on.lol |
I'm a smoker and trying to quit, and I think those truth ads are a bunch of BS.
Actually Phillip Morris has their own anti smoking PSA airing. It is very clear concise and pretty much deviod of liberal BS. They also direct you to their website that has quite a large section anti smoking and quitting smoking section. |

Non-smoker here, who is pissed off by the commercials. The ones that piss me off more, however, are the anti-pot commercials, specifically the one where the guys are driving like a bat outta hell and run over a kid on her tricycle. Its bullshit. I have to think hard and tell myself to push harder on the gas pedal when stoned. Its like pushing against the firewall.
