I'm digging through old files and hope to find a certain letter to (then) gov. Tom Ridge asking for a mule and 40 acres under an old PA law.

The Department of Military affairs actually answered it.

It was a real corker, and I hope I find it.

My representative told me that Ridge laughed his ass off when he read it.

I don't think there's any such law. The closest thing was a field order by civil war General Sherman to give ex-slaves land from former confederates and pack animals that were no longer needed by the army.

The Mexican War streets in PGH are all land grants given to various people that served in the Mexican War.

The Mule part comes from the Piccolo Bag of Bullshit, although the Commonwealth DID give away a few Army mules a LOOOOOOOOng time ago.
