The response I like the best gets custom work from the man who created this:

Does it have to be my avatar I think needs changing or can I bring to a vote someone elses who needs changing?

Well, I did say "your" (general, not you specifically), but I'll consider suggestions.

Except for mine.  The crocodile stays.

...why you think your avatar needs work.

Because I have had the same one ever since I joined and is very generic when held in comparison to my screenname.  Beetle Bailey is iconic of the humor in the everyday soldier's struggle in Army life, and it is time that something special be done for this true American slacker.

...what you wish your avatar was.

It should be something similar to my screenname.  Such as something cool, like a .gif of Beetle weilding, firing an AR15.

...why I should make it for you.

Because creating an assault rifle-weilding Beetle Bailey would be fun for you, and because it has been a long time coming that Beetle, along with his whole outfit, be better equipped for modern-day warfare than the old Garands that they are currently equipped with.

Dang - get it right by following the instructions.

BeetleBailey followed the instructions and is definitely in the running.  Though I must admit, the first "alternative" I thought of involved a ladybug and a bottle of Irish Cream.

Well, Beetle, you finally did something right.

Making him run has NOT been easy, and I still have some work to do.

But here are a few ideas:

Still trying to find color images - the line drawing is kinda disappointing.

I'll keep going.  I'm still trying to get Bailey into a Sniper billet, but I'm still getting things lined up.

Pathfinder74's was a cinch to do:

(The timing can be changed.)

The rest of you will just have to wait until I'm feeling benevolent again, or decide that I can't stand your lame and boring picture any longer, or Wedge1082 traps me into making a new space battle over someone else's bruised butt.

It still needs more cowbell.  Specifically, more frames of it (it'll be smoother, and you can make room for it if you take some of the non-cowbell colors out).

How does one do an active avitar anyhoo?

I think Gopher's is pretty funny.  Probably because it reminds me of the 'weasel' character from the Fog Horn Leg Horn cartoon.

I didn't realize mine was in need of changing. Looks good, but I'll probably keep mine simply because it was one of my first animated gifs and I was so impressed with myself for having done it.

My avatar needs work because it is just a stationary Robert from Red Dawn.

I wish my avatar could be Robert firing his AK on full automatic fire.

You should do it because it would be a great tribute to the classic film Red Dawn.

Yes.  Perhaps pulsating red eyes and a scroll that reads, “Now, with even more cowbell!” would be an improvement.  I acquiesce.

OR... and this one would be somewhat of a challenge... turning the drum cowbell stick into a green glowing lightsaber. "More cowbell we need."

I understand that they don't use full-auto very much any more:

But if you REALLY want to waste ammunition:

You'll need these after you're done with that brick.

Maybe I'll have another contest soon.

I have mixed emotions about mine.  I searched the net looking for a gopher and he was what I came up with. I found one other but he looked too much like a prairie dog. I could just see someone morphing that into a pink mist.  Wish he wasn't so paranoid looking but then again maybe that fits too.
