| I served in the early 70's. The first day on the job I raised my right hand and swore to defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. I got into a discussion the other day with another vet and he mentioned he does not remember being released from his oath, neither do I. Is there anyone here that was every told you are now released? If so are you still obligated to defend against domestic enemies? |

Okay I'm not trolling just trying to sort things out. Domestic enemies: 1. Those that want to bring religion into the government. 2. Gun control forces. 3. Those that would limit our speech under the guise that it is hateful and purpose to incite others. (the PC crowd) However much I agree or disagree with them I did take an oath. In some totally screwed up and sick way didn't the OK. city bomber by declaring war on the feds and attacking them was he not acting on his oath. Ann Coulter by wanting more religion in government. The people that created a inflated market for MG's People that tell you not to say things because you may offend a portion of the population. This is not a TROLL POST just a post to stimulate disscussion. |
The Corps to which I gave my oath released me from it. I have a certificate right on my wall, signed by a general, which says I "was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps". A discharge releases me from my obligations to the entity discharging me. |
No. There is nothing wrong with religion "in government," in fact, it's there, daily. The problem would be an official state religion or unjustly prohibiting the practice of religion. |
Fixed it for you. ![]() Sept 2004. Need I say more???

I beleive in seperation of church and state. I do not beleive in seperation of God and state. |
Neither do I, but it sure helps. For those that have never seen the oath of enlistment. I'll let one of the "O's" post theirs ![]()

And now this shit goes all down hill from here.... |
Let's differentiate between those who are guided by the moral principles of their faith and those who want to force conversion, OK?
Including those who would trample the rest of the BoR.
Charlton Heston called political correctness "Tyranny with manners."
I'm not sure what you meant to say, but there are those who viewed the minions of the Clinton regime as domestic enemies.
I don't think you really understand Ann.
aka, the .gov thugs who interfered with the demand/supply in the market.
Discussing! |
Too late Dude, religion has been there from the beginning. It amazes me that because we have a President who admits he prays, now all the sudden we are a country of religious zealots. You can say anything you want, you just have to live with the consequences. It is the latter part of the first sentance that people have the problem with, they think that freedom of speech also means freedom from consequences, sorry. I have taken two oaths in my lifetime, the first was to my country, the second to my wife, I take both very seriously and literally. I think the OK City issue is a clear case of not only murder but treason, they should have been publicly hanged. |
Your certificate was a release from active duty not your obligation. |
