I have a guy telling me he moved to England and bought an AK-47 and a RPK-74 there. I'm calling bullshit. I thought "military style" rifles were banned there. Any help?

I think semi automatic military type weapons are either banned or tightly restricted, I have read of guys disconnecting the gas tube so they can have an AR

I imagine they're available there on the black market for not too much money.

But they're strictly verboten for law-abiding citizens subjects.

This is the conversation I had with him... this whole conversation seems real strange. He commissioned a year after me from my NROTC unit.... now he's "involuntarily seperated".

Erik: nice AR-15
Me: Thanks. I have a Russian Kobra sight for it, but the mount is too high off the bore axis. Getting a Picatinny rail to put on the handguard to fix that
Me: Currently it's mounted on the carry handle
Erik: i have a ak-47
Erik: and an RPK-74N2
Me: show me pics
Erik: with a russian laser sight
Erik: i dont have a real photo of my own, but i can give you the website
Me: When did you pick these up? How much?
Erik: 1700 Euros for both of them
Me: Euros?
Me: Explain
Erik: euro dollars
Me: yeah I know what they are
Me: explain why you're paying Euros?
Erik: i moved to england
Me: huh???
Me: Direct connect don't work for me
Erik: oh
Erik: well i cant show you the picture
Me: Last I checked you couldn't own those type of rifles in ENgland...
Me: How'd you pull that off
Me: and why are you in England?
Erik: business
Me: Aren't you supposed to be in AFIT?
Erik: i could not pay for it after i got 'involuntarily separated'
Me: Involuntarily seperated? How'd that happen?
Erik: married a forein national and they revoked my security clearance and eventually disqualified me for dubty based on 'conflict of interest'
Erik: real bullshit
Erik: i was pised for a while
Me: wtf??? when did this all happen? Married???
Erik: well, its a business relationship
Me: explain

Nevermind, this kid is a dipshit. He was pulling my chain. The only reason I asked about it is, if you knew this kid, this is something that he could conceivably get himself into.
