Looking at the current calls for the House and Senate. The house is 54-44 and the Senate 229-200.

Maybe we could actually get some good legislation started now.

I call it the "Spoils of War" bill, allowing each member of the armed forces to bring back a dollar value of loot based on his rank.

Unfortunately, Dems can still block legislation with their candy-assed filibusters. You need 60 votes for a cloture

+1 on that. Of course, the Repubs are a bit closer to that magic number, so for each piece of legislation, they only need to find 6 Dems willing to cross the lines instead of 9. Should make it easier to get certain key bills (and SCOTUS appointments!) passed.

Illinois didn't help, but I'm glad at least there are bigger majorities, especially in the Senate. My two liberal senators won't get as much done, thankfully.
