Problems with eBay.

For the last three weeks I am unable to log on to 'My eBay' despite being able to sign in using my usual User ID and Password. I emailed the customer service on 5 different occasion and was given a number of manipulations to go thru to fix the problem including:

1. Clear the cookies
2. Change password
3. Unplug cable modem and reboot
4. Lower the security settings on Explorer/Tools/Internet Options

Hell, maybe a few others, I've lost count. And NOW I can't sign in OR even get to the 'My eBay' ID/Password page.

Oddly, this only occurs on my computer at the office. At home, it all works perfectly.

For those in the know or curious I am running Windows 98, Internet Explorer 5.5 and everything else works perfectly. I can answer other specifics as necessary.

If you haven't delete ALL your cookies/temp files/history etc

Tools>Internet Options:
    Delete Cookies
    Delete Files
    Clear History
OK

Have you been able to get to ebay from work previously?

If that didn't work is it possible that your employer blocked them?

First, update to IE6.... with all available updates.  That might resolve your issues right there.  5.5 is ancient and no longer supported.

Do you go through a firewall at work to get to the Internet?

I am the employer.

Yes, eBay previously worked fine.

And for the asshats, I asked for Windows98. I think XP has a bunch of unnecessary garbage and its a memory hog!

Memory hog compared to 98, which has no memory management at all?

sometimes clearing cookies through IE doesn't truly clean them all out. Try it this way:
. Go to your "Start" menu found on your task bar.
2. Select the "Search" or "Find" option, and "Files or Folders"
3. Type in Cookies in the search box and make sure that the "look in" field is selecting your hard drive usually C:
4. Once it has pulled up the list of files and folders it has found, double click the Folders labeled "Cookies" and delete all the files
that have the word Ebay in them.

NOT out of the question!

I have been using a program called Internet Cleanup for years without problem. I used to have Norton Internet Security, or rather, I guess I still do, but the subscription expired in June. I run Spybot and AdAware about once a week.

Thanks guys!

Went thru Norton turned off each step of security and found the problem.

Solved.

Also updated to Explorer 6.0. Color scheme sucks.
