My wife downloaded this "Hotbar" application to my PC. It's a real pain in the ass with periodic ad pop-ups and a toolbar that must be manually disabled every time a new IE window is opened. I've tried unsuccessfully to delete it, both using the "Add/Remove Programs" application and by manually deleting the program files. Please help me rid my PC of this nuisance. |
Mac ? ![]() pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,23611,00.asp This functionality is built into XP SP2. |
Now that is helpful advice if I have ever heard it. -1 Are you running any kind of spyware/Adware detectinand elimination software? And no I am not using Firefox, yes I use IE, and I have not had a popup in months, not a single one. |

Download Ad-Aware & SpyBot Search & Destroy. Both links are on Download.com Install and run both. They cleaned my computer when my kids did the same sort of thing Camper |

Easiest way is to just download IE 6.0 from www.microsoft.com and install it over the top of the existing copy. It'll get rid of practically EVERYTHING. On top of the spyware delete programs you see above, also check the content of this file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Make sure that "LOCALHOST" is the ONLY one in there. Otherwise you may have weird pop-ups or website redirects. Enjoy. |
Using this app I disabled it. Many thanks. |
Spybot Search & Destroy did the trick permanently. Cheers!
