I've quit 3 jobs with no notice. 2 were at the end of the day and I told the foreman I'll be back on Friday to get my check. The last one I just dropped my paint gun on the floor and walked out . The idiot owner had decided to change the color of this metal frame without telling anyone but me and the foreman through a fucking fit and would not listen to reason. I hope that epoxy paint set up in the gun, hoses and pressure pot before anyone did anything about it. |

Somebody probably already posted something similar, but there is such a thing as “deminimus time”. The original court case is probably from 100 years ago with coal miners. The actual punch in / punch out clock was down in the mine. The miners had to ride slow ass elevator down and then clock in. At the end of the shift, they had to clock out first down in the mine, and then ride that same slow ass elevator up to the surface. The latest court case was during covid and it was a bunch of Amazon workers at one of their fulfillment centers. I think they had to enter the front of one of their “fulfillment centers” warehouses. Then they had to go all the way to the back, probably hot their temperatures taken, and then they clocked in. Whatever happened to that court case….I have no idea. |

| The day I walked out and retired was the best day of my life, no more hospital administration BS, No more feeling helpless when dealing with major trauma. After 36 years in the ER I was more than ready. I retired do to unforseen family problems, death of a spouse. I punched out at 59, sure the wallet hurt for a bit but Damn, retirement is the bomb. And love me some hot dogs off the cart. |

I was catching up with a former co-worker in July (I've been retired for 5 years) and he goes "You remember Ardis?" yeah, how's he doing? "he quit about 6 months ago"..... Guy quit a $120K+ job due to all the bs (and there was a lot of bs, dei bs, etc, etc) and opened up a chicken wing restaurant. By July he had opened his second one! I knew a family that ran a hot dog stand for over 20 years out of a little carnival trailer. Hot dogs, corn dogs, fresh squeezed lemonade with the good, flaked ice. The elderly grandmother ran it 90% of the time (no A/C!). The last several years they built a larger take-out stand with a large porch and several picnic tables offering burgers, snowballs, etc. |

The common wisdom is don’t burn bridges, but I have done that before and never regretted it or ran into any issues from it lol Unless you have a history of being unable to keep a job longer than a few months, it really just makes the boss look bad when it happens |

I had the payroll ladies all confused when I demanded to paid for the hour I was on the clock when daylight savings time ended basically making work the “same” hour twice. It too two of them to understand that we had some employees in LE that work after dark very often. The first one was wanting to know who authorized me to work when the clocks changed.

The assistant manager who hated me for having a higher base than he did was the manager on duty at the time. He opened the store 15 minutes late that day, like usual for him. All of the 'out of store' warranty customers were there to drop off their cars, and in his face. Wanna hear the shocker? They screwed me on my last commission check. It was worth it. The original pay scale that they offered, and honored for several months, turned out too good to be true. They went out of business 18 months later. Attached File |

New payroll clerk couldn’t figure out why guys were getting 25hrs instead of the normal 24hr shift in the FD. This was after the cluster they caused with a new time clock system that would only allow 8hr shifts. Paid thousand for it for all departments only to have to remove the ones from the FD / PD after realizing those departments don’t work 8hr days. |
